Mouse island (Pontikonisi)
and Vlacheraina monastery
Everybody knows the picturesque Mouse island or Pontikonisi as the locals call it, at the entrance of Gulf of Halikiopoulos, front of the airport runway, along with the neighboring Vlacherna. It is the most characteristic landscape of Corfu. Mouse island is the first thing that every new visitor sees when approaching Corfu airport, it sits literally in the geographical center of the island, very close to the town.
Achilleion:
The Palace of Sisi in Corfu Greece.
The beautiful Achilleion Palace is located 12 km from the apartments. It was built in 1890 by Empress Elizabeth of Austria in a property originally owned by the philosopher and diplomat Petros Vrailas Armenis and replaced the former “Villa Vraila”. Queen Elizabeth became known as the sad queen Sisi.
The Old and New Fortresses: fascinating not only for their historical relevance but also for their stunning views over the town, the sea, the Greek mainland and much of Corfu island. Please note that the New Fortress, despite its name, dates back to 1578! The Palace of St Michael and St George: built by the British in 1815 as a residence for the High Commissioner and seat of the senate, this impressive palace now houses an excellent Museum of Asian Art, brimming with Japanese prints, Indian sculptures and many other oriental treasures. The Campiello: the mediaeval heart of Corfu Town. Just wander, get lost, look up and around you and stop occasionally for refreshments! The churches: there are nearly 40 Greek Orthodox churches in Corfu Town and we recommend you visit a few, including the Church of St Spyridon (resting place of the island’s venerated patron saint - built 1596), the Orthodox Cathedral (1577) and the Byzantine Church of St Jason and St Sosipater (filled with sublime icons and time-faded frescoes - built in the 11th century). The Spianada: the large park between the Old Fortress and the Liston in the east of town, which you will probably cross at some time during your visit. The British used to play cricket here and the Victorian bandstand at the centre harks back to another era completely! The Liston: bordering the Spianada, the Liston is the chicest part of town, an elegant piazza-cum-promenade whose arcade is lined with cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Although it dates back to Venetian times, it was the French, during their brief sojourn on the island, who gave it its Parisian feel.
After all, do not forget to enjoy a coffee or a refreshing drink at
ZamanFou Cafe in the center of Corfu town.

Paxos Island
A piece of heaven on earth
The small Ionian island impresses above all thanks to its landscape that makes it an artist's paradise, with clear aquamarine sea and pebbly beaches that you have to see to believe their beauty. Paxos is located 15 kilometers south of Corfu and mainland Greece.
It boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean and, being accessible only by ferry, has remained relatively untouched by mass tourism.
The three main villages of Gaios, Lakka and Laggos are quaint, welcoming little ports with idyllic seafront tavernas, shops and bars. Gaios is the port of arrival and departure and also has regular boat connections to Paxos' smaller sister island of Antipaxos. According to Greek mythology, Paxos was created by Poseidon. He was looking for a quiet place for himself and his beloved Amphitriti. With his trident he demolished the southernmost part of Corfu, creating Paxos. He lost his trident, which the islanders later found and made their emblem. Paxos has no airport and can only be reached by sea. This is most likely the main reason this island has so far escaped the encroachment of modern day mass tourism and has been dubbed 'a little slice of heaven' or timeless Greece.
